Tony Khan Speaks About AEW Stars Being Vaccinated

Tony Khan, the President of AEW, recently spoke about the status of AEW stars with regard to the Covid 19 vaccine. In the US, many people that are not getting vaccinations are getting fired. Some people in the US believe that this violates their right to choose whether or not they should take the Covid 19 vaccine or not.

Some companies have given a deadline to employees to get the vaccine, or else, they will be fired. According to Tony Khan, this is not the case in AEW. Tony Khan spoke about Bloomberg Business of Sports about the Covid 19 vaccine.

He stated that AEW stars can perform even if they are not vaccinated or not.

Tony Khan Reveals that Getting Vaccinated Are Not Mandatory in AEW

“Most of the roster has gotten [vaccinated] and we have encouraged people to do so,” Khan revealed.

“I haven’t put in mandatory, but I’ve also strongly encouraged and put in protocols to encourage everyone to do so because it’s much easier for the vaccinated folks to get through the day and interact outside of the ring.

“They just have to go through less rigorous procedures and testing. We’ve definitely encouraged everyone to do it. Most of our people are”. A number of popular wrestlers that didn’t get vaccinated (as they were not available at the time) caught the virus.

Many popular WWE superstars had to take time off to recover. WWE reported many outbreaks. That being said, AEW did not have many reports of outbreaks during the pandemic for some reason. Tony Khan was asked about whether or not AEW motivated its wrestlers to take the vaccine.

“We have created a great backstage environment where people want to spend time together,” Tony Khan said. “We’ve also put in thorough testing protocols. Not being a part of the most rigorous levels of testing and also having the ability to go out and do what you want and live your life like we did before without these protocols makes it much more savory and encouraging for the vaccinated”.

The pandemic is still not completely over as cases in the US started to rise recently. According to many experts around the world, new variants are making the virus hard to control. That is the reason why the US and other countries around the world are still imposing lockdowns.
