AEW will be holding an annual Owen Hart Tournament

Through a press release, All Elite Wrestling wanted to let the wrestling world know that it has started a partnership with the Owen Hart Foundation, a charitable foundation that the family of the late Owen Hart founded in his honor.

This union serves to honor the memory of this great wrestler who died too soon and tragically, with some particular and important details that make it very interesting. This part of the statement released by AEW: “The AEW and the Owen Hart Foundation enter into a relationship to honor the legacy of the world-famous wrestler Owen Hart.

September 20, 2021 - All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and The Owen Hart Foundation (OHF), a non-profit charity that provides a wide range of assistance and opportunities to people in need around the world, are collaborating to honor the legacy of late wrestler Owen Hart, a much-loved figure in the pro wrestling community and beyond.

This collaboration includes the launch of the annual Owen Hart Cup Tournament within the AEW, which will see the winner receive a cup known as "The Owen", as well as the production and distribution of unique and original Owen Hart merchandise, including products.

retail specified and the next AEW console video game. This alliance incorporates opportunities to develop Owen Hart action figures through AEW's partnership with Jazwares, clothing, posters and other collectables. Owen Hart left his wife, Dr.

Martha Hart, who runs the Owen Hart Foundation with a mission to provide global aid to communities at risk (e.g., scholarships, housing, various forms of international assistance, food, complimentary backpacks, and Christmas projects)."

Owen Hart tragically passed away in 1999

On July 28, 2021, AEW filed for a trademark with the USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office) for the term "King of Harts." It was speculated at the time that the company probably had something in store with respect to honoring Owen Hart, especially with Chris Jericho saying the same in an interview almost exactly a year ago.

We all know about the tragic death of this member of one of the most influential families in the wrestling world, who left us in 1999 when he crashed on his way into the ring. The family, like all fans, have never forgotten him, also thanks to this foundation.

Unfortunately, relations with WWE broke down due to the treatment that the company reserved for Owen's family after his death. We hope this partnership with AEW will be good for everyone.
