On May 6 of this year, so a few days ago, we reported that Candice LeRae's contract with WWE has come to an end, as expected a few months ago when the wrestler took a break to give birth to her first child. In fact, it had been said that the deadline was scheduled for spring 2022, with WWE deciding not to freeze her maternity contract also because Candice continued to appear on NXT shows in support of Indi Hartwell as long as she was needed.
At that point, even taking into account that in the meantime her husband Johnny Gargano had said goodbye to her company, Candice decided not to renew with WWE and move forward in her life and career.
Backstage news on Candice LeRae
Now it seems that there is already someone willing to take her by offering her a contract.
In fact, Dave Meltzer in his weekly Wrestling Observer Newsletter introduced the argument by saying that apparently many people at the top of the AEW would be looking forward to hiring the fairy, even if there are no certainties on Tony Khan's thinking about it.
"Candice LeRae (Candice Gargano, 36) saw her contract expire during the week. Many close to the situation expected WWE to freeze her contract due to her being out of action due to her pregnancy. There is no non-competition clause so she and her husband Johnny are both free agents.
While we don't know Tony Khan's thoughts on the matter, it is obvious that there are people in power in AEW who would like her in the company. In her PWG days, the Young Bucks had memorable matches with LeRae & Joey Ryan, who on Indies tours are known as 'The World's Cutest tag team.'
" We remind you that Britt Baker has to face the famous Joker in the AEW Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament, so for example Candice herself or Athena, formerly of Ember Moon, are not to be excluded. Athena has now passed the non-competition clause and Candice, having expired the contract, does not have one of her own.
With Mr. Gargano no longer under a WWE contract by the end of this week, all eyes will go on his wife, Candice LeRae. The former NXT Women's Tag Team Champion is currently pregnant but is still under contract with the company until spring of 2023, according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select.
