AEW President Tony Khan responded to Eric Bischoff's comments on CM Punk. According to the former WCW President, Punk has been a real financial flop since he joined the federation. Eric Bischoff has harshly criticized the AEW in recent months.

The former WCW president attracted the most people when he contested CM Punk's success in AEW since his debut in August 2021.

Tony Khan: "No one has had a more positive impact than CM Punk"

During the post-Double Or Nothing press conference, Tony Khan didn't hold back his thoughts on Eric Bischoff's words and vented: “ These are really absurd things.

I can only attest to what happened here and the public records. Some of these things are a matter of public domain due to freedom of information. We have, over the years, a good amount of financial data on professional wrestling.

I can tell you that no wrestler has ever come in and made a bigger and more financial difference in the history of my company than he has. No person has ever had a more positive impact than CM Punk. We just hit records for our pay-per-views.

Each ppv has reached four editions and for each, it is a record. Growth is also thanks to him." Additionally, Tony Khan alluded to the "Friday Night War" note between AEW and WWE: "His matches led to the Friday Night War, which, by the way, was fantastic for us.

We won the Friday Night War. Ask Jerry McDevitt why he mentioned it. This guy won against Matt Sydal who is a great wrestler, he had another super match that Friday night. He really won the Friday Night War, did an amazing First Dance and also a great match at Double or Nothing.

He was present at All Out to debut. He was a big part of Full Gear in a big fight against Eddie Kingston. He fought with a great group of young boys and veterans. Will Hobbs, and Daniel Garcia, then showed up and did the biggest show in terms of the box office and beyond, alongside MJF. He was important to the financial success of this company. The opposite cannot be said."
