The somewhat dark summer period continues for numerous AEW and WWE wrestlers. The last to end up on the injured list seems to be Adam Cole, the protagonist of a Fatal 4 Way valid for the New Japan Pro Wrestling world title at the Forbidden Door.
According to reports by Bryan Alvarez, the former NXT star suffered a concussion in the middle of the match and that is why the ending seemed "botched" to many. Jay White pinned him in a hurry, after he collapsed at the ground, winning the match and keeping the title.
Cole was then rescued by the AEW medical team.
Latest update on Adam Cole
At the moment there are no further details on his status, but the hope of the fans is that it was not something serious and that Adam Cole can return to the ring as soon as possible.
Already after Double or Nothing, PPV held in May, he had been seen very sore in some episodes of Dynamite. In recent weeks, the list of injuries at AEW has grown dramatically, also involving Jungle Boy. Adam Cole was recently targeted by the Hall of Famer Booker T who criticized his thin and injury-prone physique.
Statements that did not go very well to fans on social networks or to the colleagues of the former leader of the Undisputed Era: one above all Adam "Hangman" Page who defined the opinions of Booker T totally useless.
The top name still in the pits is Bryan Danielson. The American Dragon was supposed to take part in the Forbidden Door by facing off against Zack Saber Jr. but he didn't have the medical clearance to do so. In his place, at the PPV, none other than Claudio Castagnoli, the real name of the former WWE wrestler Cesaro, presented himself!
The Swiss has officially joined the Blackpool Combat Club, a stable led by William Regal, and will also fight at Blood & Guts, an episode of Dynamite scheduled for Wednesday. In short, a debut with all the trimmings. Before his heated match with Kyle O'Reilly at NXT Great American Bash, Adam Cole sat down with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT to discuss all things WWE.
"Being able to stay in NXT, even with the 403-day reign and being a triple-crown winner and all that stuff, I’ve been with the brand for such a long time and I’ve seen it grow so much that it’s really fun to be a part of that process," Cole continued.
"I would love to win the NXT title again. I would love to face Samoa Joe. I would love the chance to wrestle Isaiah "Swerve" Scott. There’s so many possibilities within that brand."
