Tony Khan is currently the president of All Elite Wrestling, and he recently spoke about the promo time that he gives to CM Punk and Thunder Rosa. Thunder Rosa suffered an injury after she won the Aew Women’s Title. CM Punk also had to leave AEW for a while after he won the AEW World Title after breaking his foot.
Tony Khan Bluntly Talks About Why He Gave More Promo TIme to CM Punk
CM Punk was given around eight minutes to talk to fans about his injury. He spoke to the fans on an episode of AEW Rampage. He cut the promo while being out in the ring.
However, Thunder Rosa spoke about her injury on an episode of AEW Dynamite. She spoke about her injury backstage when Tony Schiavone interviewed her. Tony Khan came under fire for this disparity. Tony’s response was extremely blunt.
He simply stated that he gives promo time to the AEW stars that he believes will give the show better ratings. "I give the TV time based on what I believe is going to draw the most ratings," Khan said in the All Out 2022 media call.
"If you want my honest opinion on an eight-minute Thunder Rosa promo vs an eight-minute CM Punk promo, then you're going to get an honest answer, and I think the eight-minute CM Punk promo is probably going to do a better rating ...
To come out and do a live eight-minute promo, I'm not sure that would've been good for the television show, to be honest with you." Punk had to leave AEW after the 24th of August, 2022. This was after he fought at Double or Nothing in 2022.
That night CM Punk managed to win the AEW World Title. He recently returned to fight Jon Moxley who was the AEW Interim World Champion to unify the titles. CM Punk lost in about 3 minutes to Jon Moxley and Jon is now the Undisputed AEW World Champion.
During that match, it seemed that CM Punk aggravated his injury and that is the reason why he lost. CM Punk was at the receiving end of two Death Riders. This Sunday, AEW will be holding the AEW All Out PPV event. During that event, an Interim Women’s World Champion will be crowned.
It will be a fatal four-way match between Jamie Hayter, Toni Storm, Hikaru Shida and Britt Baker. CM Punk will also face Jon Moxley for the AEW World Title at All Out to try and reclaim his AEW World Title that he recently lost.
