CM Punk is one of AEW’s top stars and is also the AEW World Champion. CM Punk has made plenty of headlines due to his comments at the post-All Out media scrum. CM Punk spoke about Colt Cabana, and stated that the EVPs of the company do not know what they are doing.
This was after he won the AEW World Title by beating Jon Moxley at the All Out main event. It has been reported by multiple outlets that his comments led to the Young Bucks confronting him after CM Punk went to his locker room.
That led to a backstage brawl. According to Sports Illustrated, a number of AEW talents that were involved in the fight are either suspended or fired. Matt Jackson, Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega, Christopher Daniels, Pat Buck, Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler have reportedly been suspended as they were the ones that actually started fighting.
However, it was CM Punk that instigated the fight with his friend Ace Steel, who will reportedly be fired or suspended as Ace was also involved in the fight. CM Punk may also be suspended or fired from the company. His fate will be decided soon.
CM Punk's Fate Will Be Decided Today by AEW
According to various reports, CM Punk met with Tony Khan on Tuesday to talk about the situation and how the company can handle it. Sports Illustrated also reported that a third party has been called to look into the locker room situation.
Punk’s comments during the media scrum have been considered unprofessional by many people. He called out Colt Cabana, Adam Page and then stated that the EVPs of the company are not handling the company well. According to Sports Illustrated, Adam Page was not in the building when the fight broke out.
According to various outlets, Ace threw a chair at Nick Jackson that hit him and caused a black eye. He also bit Omega, according to the reports. According to various sources, the fight lasted for about six minutes before security had to rush in to defuse the situation.
CM Punk is currently the top draw in AEW and he is considered by many to be one of the best wrestlers in the world right now. It is highly unlikely that AEW will actually fire their top stars, and many people believe that the EVPs should not have acted the way they did as they are not just wrestlers, they are executives in the company.
