In an interview with AEW Unrestricted, Saraya talked about various topics, and one of them was how she came up with the name Britani Knight during the early stages of her career. The main actors of this story were her parents.
“My dad loved Gladys Knight growing up, so he named himself after Gladys Knight, which is better than our real last name, which is Bevis. The amount of frickin jokes I had about Bevis, Beavis and Butt-Head jokes, days on days and days.
Britani came from when I was younger, my mom used to dye my hair all these different colors and she bleached my hair blonde. My dad thought I looked like Britney Spears, so he called me Britani. He had to come up with a name and he called me Britani because my mom was using Saraya.
She still uses Saraya to this day. I’m like sorry Mom, but I have to. So yeah, that’s how Britani Knight came about”. - Saraya said, as quoted by pwmania.com
Saraya on her match vs Britt Baker
Saraya recently talked about her match against Britt Baker at the 2022 AEW Full Gear PPV.
She knew the responsibility of such a match, so it was reasonable that she was nervous. “Walking out, this was the most nervous I’ve ever been in my career, because I want to give 110% and I know in AEW, I felt like I had to step up my wrestling game.
Wrestlers everywhere are fantastic but I felt like the caliber of AEW women’s wrestling is so high, I’m like, man, we’ve got Toni, and we’ve got Jamie Hayter on the show today, and I’m like, oh my gosh, please go before them, because they’re just so good, all the women here are so good, so I had a lot of emotions.
And also, I felt like there were a lot of eyes on the match, too, a lot of eyes, even non-wrestling fans, so there was just a lot of focus on this show, and I was like, man, I don’t want to let anyone down, I don’t want to let Tony down, he’s given me this opportunity”.
