Shawn Spears on AEW Bloated Roster Comment

Shawn Speaks currently works as an Aew wrestler, and he recently spoke about journalists and fans having the idea that the company roster's too bloated. It is true that AEW currently has a large number of wrestlers that are working for it.

Only a few of these wrestlers are used regularly on AEW TV. Some wrestlers are not seen on TV for weeks and even months. This is also possibly the reason why AEW does let some of its wrestlers leave.

Shawn Spears Thinks AEW Roster Being Bloated is Not A Bad Thing

Shawn recently spoke about this on the K&S WrestleFest.

He stated that AEW having a huge number of wrestlers is not bad as they get paid for being a part of AEW. "They might not be working as regularly, or they might be gone for weeks at a time, but it is still better than the alternative, not having a job.

It's on the individual or the talent themselves to stay ready to be consistently trying to perfect their craft in any way shape or form," Spears said. "When you get that call are you ready to go or not? That's what you're in control of, the rest is out of your hands." Shawn himself has not appeared regularly on AEW TV either, even though he is a famous indie wrestling star.

However, there have been things going on in his personal life, reportedly which have kept him away from the ring. During the conversation, he also stated that Tony Khan is not afraid of releasing AEW wrestlers. Many people believe that Tony Khan does not release wrestlers because Tony fears that they may join the WWE after leaving AEW.

According to Shawn, many wrestlers that were signed during the pandemic era were the wrestlers who couldn’t find work during that time. Tony Khan, according to Shawn, was simply generous and helped them feed their families when he chose to sign them.

"During the pandemic when a lot of people were being let go or a lot of people couldn't get work on the independent scene and everything was being shut down, Tony was keeping those independent guys getting paid," Spears said.

"He's more generous than a lot of people think." Shawn Spears is still under an AEW contract and was a famous indie wrestler before he joined AEW.
