Chris Jericho reveals what matters most in professional wrestling

Chris Jericho is undoubtedly one of the best wrestlers of the modern era, having won the hearts of millions of fans during his long career in the business. Y2J proudly represents All Elite Wrestling right now and has worked with some of the best talent in the industry.

In a recent interview granted to 'WTF', the Canadian champion revealed what is the most important aspect in professional wrestling: “Wrestling is totally about characters. The moves are important and make the matches exciting, but the most important thing is knowing how to connect with the audience.

Wrestling isn't that different from comedy or theater, that's what many wrestlers don't understand. Only if you can interact with the fans, they will pay the ticket to see you and will be interested in what you are doing. Storytelling is key in this business.

There is too much focus on the spectacularity of the sequences and on the athleticism, when instead the story is the most important thing."

Chris Jericho is a legend

Chris Jericho is currently in a feud with Ricky Starks and Action Andretti in AEW.

Speaking of which, Y2J and Sammy Guevara scored a very valuable win over Starks and Andretti on last week's episode of AEW Dynamite. In the latest edition of his now famous show, the former Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle wanted to pay tribute to Jericho: “You may like it or not, but it cannot be denied that Chris Jericho is an absolute legend of this business.

He should always be in the main event and deserves to win many more titles. It's not like he's past his prime yet. He's still in great shape and it's only fitting that AEW continue to support him." AEW faced a difficult time in the fall of last year, thanks to the backstage brawl caused by Cm Punk.

“He was like we were fighting for our lives at that juncture. The brawl that broke out backstage after All Out showered the company with a lot of negative publicity and it was not easy to move forward. We had to fight harder than ever not to sink” – recalled Jericho.

Chris Jericho has seemingly become a much bigger name in Aew's locker room than he was back in WWE. “Yeah, that was Jericho’s idea a long time ago. I talked to Chris; it had to be 2019. He said, ‘Man, everything you did in WWE, the look, scrap it.

You got to do something brand new. Wearing trunks and those high boots, it’s not me. It just didn’t feel right, so wearing jeans and Timbs felt right. That started with Jericho telling me to switch things up; it felt organic to me”.
