Renowned actor and former WWE creative writer Freddie Prinze Jr. has recently opined the future of AEW World Champion Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF). Engaging in a conversation on "Insight" with host Chris Van Vliet, Prinze Jr.

was asked about the possibility of MJF departing AEW when his contract expires next year. Prinze Jr. responded with uncertainty, stating, "I don't know. The character MJF will go wherever the money's best." He then elaborated on the uniqueness of special stars like MJF, expressing his belief that AEW's Tony Khan would match any offer presented by WWE.

He added, "MJF has a ton of freedom where he's at... If I were him, I wouldn't leave." The actor-writer conveyed his admiration for the current "Four Pillars" storyline that MJF is a part of in AEW. At the same time, he acknowledged that WWE's "The Bloodline" storyline resonated with him.

Nonetheless, Prinze Jr. critically noted that several WWE stars often seem to be portraying characters rather than authentic selves. Conversely, he believes MJF has been given the creative liberty to express himself and take risks in AEW.

MJF Teases 2024 Career Options

MJF has publicized the "bidding war of 2024" on AEW television, hinting at the potential for his career to take various paths - from renewing his AEW contract to signing with WWE or even transitioning into Hollywood.

AEW President Tony Khan has already declared his intention to retain the charismatic 27-year-old champion, emphasizing his priority in an earlier interview. Similarly, wrestling veteran Bully Ray has voiced his apprehensions about the prospect of MJF moving to WWE.

According to Bully, the version of MJF that fans know and appreciate would likely be altered under WWE's creative direction, as is their traditional approach. He stated, "They would have to put their twist, their spin, as they do everything because that's just the way WWE is, and is that wrong of them? It's their company." In essence, while the future of MJF remains uncertain, the wrestling community's consensus is that he prefers to continue his journey with AEW.
