Darby Allin Unveils Origins of AEW's Iconic Partnership with Sting

Darby Allin, the rising star of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has shed light on the origins of his collaboration with wrestling icon Sting and how their partnership has evolved into something extraordinary. Since their victory over Team Taz at AEW Revolution in 2021, Sting and Allin have emerged victorious in fifteen tag team matches.

Notable wins include triumphs over FTR, The Acclaimed, The House of Black, and the duo of Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal. Despite their accomplishments as a team, Darby Allin has recently shifted his focus towards his singles career, even competing in a thrilling four-way battle for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing.

During an appearance on the Fightful Wrestling podcast, Allin provided insight into the organic nature of his partnership with the WWE Hall of Famer and how it all began. "All of this happened in a very organic way. Nothing was planned from the start.

When he made his debut, there was no initial intention to team him up with me. But somehow, it just naturally unfolded," Allin shared. A fan of Allin's in-ring and out-of-ring creativity, Sting recognized the young wrestler's potential.

According to Allin, Sting conveyed his admiration, saying, "You're incredibly creative. One day, people will be working for you." The two started bouncing ideas off each other, and their collaboration flourished.

An Unforgettable In-Ring Connection

Allin reminisced about their first joint venture, which occurred during a live match at Double or Nothing a few years ago against Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky.

"It was something special. He saw that he could trust me in the ring to come up with ideas, and from there, man, we've been attached at the hip," Allin fondly recalled. The conversation veered towards the possibility of Allin and Sting competing for the AEW Tag Team Championships.

However, Allin revealed that Sting's focus is not on championship pursuits. "Championship aspirations have never driven Sting. He prefers to allow others to elevate their careers," Allin explained. "He doesn't need further elevation in his career.

But who knows? Maybe he'll change his mind. Maybe he'll say, 'Hey, FTR. Let's do this.' " Sting's illustrious career spans various wrestling promotions, most notably his days in WCW, where he transitioned from a colorful, face-painted hero to a darker character who clashed with Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall during the NWO era.

Following WCW's sale, Sting spent eleven successful years in Impact Wrestling, capturing the World Championship on four occasions, before eventually joining WWE in 2014. In 2016, he was deservedly inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.

The partnership between Darby Allin and Sting exemplifies the remarkable synergy that can emerge when a legendary figure recognizes an emerging star's immense talent and potential, forging a bond that has captivated wrestling fans and created countless unforgettable moments in AEW's history.
