AEW Attempts to Recruit DX Legend, Says Billy Gunn

Billy Gunn, former D-Generation X (DX) member and current All Elite Wrestling (AEW) performer, recently disclosed that AEW had attempted to recruit one of his past DX cohorts to the company. In an interview on Sportskeeda's WrestleBinge, Gunn disclosed that AEW had approached his former DX running mate Sean "X-Pac" Waltman about a potential stint with the promotion.

He believes Waltman would be a significant asset to AEW given his popularity and ability to work well with the younger talent, acting as both an ambassador and a mentor for the company.

Gunn's Commitments Challenge Reunion

Billy Gunn, who currently manages The Acclaimed in AEW, mentioned that his commitments to the tag team might create difficulties for the proposed reunion.

"I don't know if that's the thing right now because I think you'd be hard-pressed to get Tony (Khan) to get me away from The Acclaimed," he admitted. Regardless, Gunn maintains that the idea holds promise. He said, "I think we've tried to get Sean here several times.

Things didn't work out. If the time's right, he would be a great asset. He still has huge popularity, everybody knows him, and he's such a good guy that he would not only help the younger talent but also be a good representative for our company." Gunn and Waltman are renowned in the wrestling world for their contributions to D-Generation X.

Following WrestleMania 14; they joined the faction the night after Triple H announced he would be taking over the group's leadership. During this period, Waltman made his startling return to WWE after a two-year absence, an event credited for solidifying the longevity of DX.

In a historical context, Gunn, Waltman, and their DX companions played significant roles in WWE's history. They were pivotal members of DX when they, along with the group, were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2019. Thus, a potential reunion in AEW would be a massive draw for fans and a significant opportunity for the company to tap into the wrestlers' rich history and enduring popularity.
