AEW's Roster Management: Fuego Del Sol's Insights

Recently, Fuego Del Sol, the former All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star, gave a comprehensive interview with Nick Hausman from the well-known wrestling platform, Haus of Wrestling. He expressed his thoughts on a wide range of topics, including the size of the AEW roster and its impact on the performers.

This latest discourse provides an insider perspective on the dynamics of the AEW locker room and the wrestling industry at large. In response to the question of whether the AEW roster is too large, potentially limiting opportunities for some talents due to restricted screen time, Fuego had a nuanced response.

Recognizing the diligent work of his fellow wrestlers, he said, "Yes and no. I’ll never be mad at people collecting a paycheck, man." He stressed that the roster is full of incredibly hard-working, talented individuals who are yet to fully display their skills to the audience.

Balancing Talent in Wrestling

Fuego used The Gunns as an example, stating their charisma and dedicated training routine aren't fully portrayed due to limited opportunities. Similarly, he cited Anthony Agogo, an Olympic wrestler turned pro, who, despite his rigorous training and charismatic abilities, hasn't had sufficient chances to shine.

Fuego seems to empathize with these talented performers who are waiting for their big break in the wrestling world. However, Fuego Del Sol does not advocate for reducing the roster size. He proposed that what's needed is a better, more balanced programming structure.

The introduction of shows like Ring Of Honor and Collision, as well as house shows, necessitate a systematic approach. "There just needs to be a proper structure [showing] how much has this guy got to wrestle this month? Is he getting better? [Implement] a grading system," Fuego suggested.

Such a system would ensure that wrestlers are given the right opportunities based on their performance and progress, thereby maintaining a balanced roster. Further in the interview, Fuego opened up about his departure from AEW.

He reflected on his AEW journey and hinted that his career trajectory was negatively affected after Cody Rhodes' move to WWE. This departure, according to Fuego, marked a downturn in his own career, highlighting the interconnectedness of the wrestlers' careers within the industry.

This discussion with Fuego Del Sol gives an insightful look into the workings of the wrestling industry, particularly in terms of roster management and individual career progression. His suggestions may inspire a more organized approach to wrestler screen time allocation, ensuring a balanced representation of the abundant talent within the AEW.
