WWE Hall of Famer, Rob Van Dam (RVD), made waves with his recent appearance on AEW Dynamite, and the wrestling community has been buzzing since. On the latest edition of his podcast, "1 Of A Kind," RVD delved deeper into his debut and his interactions with Tony Khan, AEW's President, and CEO.

RVD's enthusiasm was palpable when discussing how Khan acquired the rights to his classic ECW theme, 'Walk.' "That was an electrifying moment. The sheer nostalgia attached to that theme... it's incredible,” Rob shared.

“Knowing the reaction it would get from the audience and the emotional connection it would evoke... It just transported me back in time”. The connection between Khan and RVD is intriguing, to say the least. While many fans might've assumed they had a longstanding relationship, Rob revealed that their initial meeting was recent.

"Before our face-to-face, we only conversed over the phone," RVD mentioned. "Yet, the bond was immediate. Khan exudes this genuine respect for the industry and its performers."

RVD's Resurgent Wrestling Odyssey

Khan reminisced with RVD about a monumental event from the latter's career — the legendary stretcher match between RVD and Sabu in Philadelphia.

"He told me he was there in the audience. That match was pivotal for me, a major highlight, and to think he was there, experiencing it, is surreal," RVD reflected. Khan regarded the bout as a transformative moment for Rob, propelling him to even greater heights in professional wrestling.

Rob also pointed out his evolution over the years. "Back then, every match felt like a progression. Each new bout became my favorite, especially when facing off with Sabu," he added. The wrestling universe is abuzz with anticipation as RVD is set to challenge Jack Perry for the coveted FTW Championship on the upcoming AEW Dynamite episode.

With this renewed vigor and clear respect from AEW's top brass, RVD seems poised to etch new milestones in his illustrious career. For fans old and new, this union of past memories and present endeavors offers an exciting journey, a testament to RVD's timeless appeal in the world of wrestling.
