Jim Ross AEW Contract Nearing End

Jim Ross AEW Contract Nearing End

Wrestling aficionados may soon witness a transition as Jim Ross, one of the most revered voices in the wrestling world, is on the brink of wrapping up his current term with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Sources from Fightful Select have hinted that the illustrious announcer's tenure with AEW could draw to a close in just a few months.

While there's potential for Ross to ink a fresh deal with the company, the open-endedness of the situation also raises the possibility of him exploring opportunities in the free agency realm. Though the exact date of the contract's expiration remains under wraps, Ross divulged on his podcast, "Grilling JR," last October that he had roughly "a year and change" remaining.

By that account, the climax of his contractual obligations may align with Fall 2023.

Ross Continues Stellar AEW Commentary

Despite his contract situation, Jim Ross remains unfazed and focused on his professional commitments.

Fans of "AEW Collision," the brand's prime Saturday night showcase, will still be treated to Ross's iconic commentary, offering a ringside narrative to battles featuring stars like CM Punk, Ricky Starks, Thunder Rosa, Miro, FTR, and several others.

Ross's recent re-emergence in the "AEW Collision" booth was particularly poignant. He suffered a significant setback due to health complications following a fall just before "Collision's" debut on June 17. Yet, showcasing his unparalleled commitment, Ross pushed through to voice the premiere episode.

He later took a sabbatical to prioritize his health and recovery. Throughout this period, Ross frequently shared uplifting updates on his podcast, highlighting his close communication with AEW President Tony Khan, who ardently expressed a desire for Ross to remain integral to the "Collision" commentary ensemble.

In another update concerning the "Collision" commentary team, there's palpable anticipation for the reunion of the foundational trio: Jim Ross, Nigel McGuinness, and Kevin Kelly. As Kevin Kelly wraps up his English commentary duties for NJPW's G1 Climax 33 in Japan, in the interim, Ian Riccaboni, a seasoned announcer from Ring of Honor, has stepped in, partnering with McGuinness and Ross.
