The pro wrestling landscape is undergoing a seismic shift, with AEW's unprecedented growth ushering in a genuine alternative to WWE, a rarity over the past two decades. However, the rise of AEW and their stronghold in Japan has apparently reshuffled the deck, pushing NJPW down the ranks from its once second-tier global status.

In a recent report by "Logmi Finance," Takaaki Kidani, the president of Bushiroad, which oversees NJPW, conceded that AEW's momentum has propelled them past his own promotion, relegating NJPW to the third spot.

"New Japan Pro Wrestling is technically seeing an uptick in digital content revenue, but the lingering shadow on its former glory can be traced back to the emergence of 'AEW (All Elite Wrestling)' in the United States between 2018 and 2019," Kidani explained.

"The birth of this new professional wrestling entity has redefined the landscape. AEW's revenue hovers around 10 billion yen, a significant factor in New Japan Pro-Wrestling's slide from the second to the third spot in the global rankings." As AEW's star continues to rise and its collaboration with NJPW remains dynamic, the tides of the wrestling world seem to be undergoing a profound transformation, promising an era of unanticipated competition and an enriched fan experience.
