CM Punk has once again found himself in the spotlight, this time due to reports of a backstage altercation with Jack Perry during AEW All In 2023. This incident, coupled with previous accounts of clashes with fellow colleagues over the past year, has drawn criticism from online commentators.

However, the "Real" AEW World Champion isn't letting the detractors get to him, thanks to the unwavering support he's received from some of the most esteemed legends in the wrestling industry. In a significant moment during his acceptance speech for the prestigious Cauliflower Alley Club's Iron Mike Mazurki Award, an accolade reserved for individuals who have made remarkable contributions to professional wrestling, CM Punk directly addressed his critics.

He also took the opportunity to express his gratitude towards the legendary figures he deeply admires and shares positive relationships with.

CM Punk Legends' Endorsement Amidst Criticism

Acknowledging his own history of occasionally rubbing people the wrong way throughout his career, Punk remarked, "I know throughout my career, I've probably rubbed some people the wrong way.

Some people like me, some don't. What I always had was the backing of legends... The last time I saw [Roddy Piper], he told me he was proud of me, so when people tell me that they don't like me or the internet's mad at me, I just kind of chuckle because Roddy Piper liked me.

Dusty Rhodes loved me. I had the respect and the backing of Harley Race before I went to the WWE. To me, that means more than all of the money in the world." Punk's emotional connection with Roddy Piper, whom he considers a hero, runs deep.

The endorsement and support he received from iconic figures like Piper, Dusty Rhodes, and Harley Race played an instrumental role in his success within WWE. Punk also confessed to grappling with imposter syndrome at times, but he has now reached a point in his career where he's able to inspire and guide younger talents.

For him, this accomplishment holds as much significance as the admiration he's garnered from the legendary individuals he holds in the highest esteem.
