All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has often faced criticism for its extensive roster and the challenges it presents in providing adequate television time to its talent. Despite airing several shows like Dynamite, Rampage, Collision, and ROH TV, some stars have been noticeably absent from the AEW spotlight.

One such star is Serena Deeb, who last appeared nearly a year ago. Serena Deeb made her AEW debut on the September 2, 2020, episode of Dynamite, where she faced off against then-NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa in her first match since 2017.

Before joining AEW, Deeb was associated with WWE, where she served as a coach at the Performance Center after joining the company in 2017. However, in early 2020, she parted ways with WWE due to budget cuts attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Puzzling AEW Disappearance

Throughout her AEW tenure, Deeb was a regular fixture on AEW television, but the situation took a puzzling turn following her appearance at the AEW Dark: Elevation taping on October 18, 2022. Rumors about Serena Deeb's status started circulating in June when Fightful Select reported that she had not been seen backstage at AEW shows, and there were no updates regarding her AEW contract status.

This lack of information raised questions among wrestling fans and insiders alike. Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez, prominent figures in wrestling journalism, discussed Serena Deeb's status on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer mentioned that he had inquired about her situation but had received no official response.

Alvarez echoed this sentiment, stating that he had also attempted to seek information but had come up empty-handed. They both acknowledged that something had seemingly transpired backstage, possibly leading to heat between Deeb and AEW management, resulting in her absence from television.

Alvarez noted, "There was some sort of heat over something. So whatever it was, she's just not being used." Meltzer added, "I haven't even heard them even hint about her name or anything. It feels like forever." Serena Deeb's mysterious absence continues to baffle fans, and as of now, her status within the AEW roster remains uncertain.

AEW's ongoing challenge of managing its extensive talent pool and providing everyone with adequate TV time underscores the complexities of running a promotion with such a diverse array of wrestling talent. Wrestling enthusiasts will be eager to learn more about Serena Deeb's situation and whether she will return to the AEW fold in the future.
