Wrestling icons Disco Inferno and Konnan recently weighed in on the future of AEW's Chris Jericho and the industry-shaking departure of CM Punk from the same promotion, speculating on their potential returns to WWE. The discussion unfolded on their podcast, Keepin' It 100, where both veterans expressed confidence that Jericho, a six-time World Champion with WWE, will eventually return to the Stamford-based organization.

"Chris Jericho will wrestle one more match in WWE. He's also due to be inducted into the Hall of Fame," Disco Inferno declared, signalling a future moment of reconciliation between Jericho and WWE. Echoing the sentiment, Konnan pointed out that wrestling has a long history of stars making unexpected comebacks, unlike sports such as football.

"Take Barry Sanders in football; very few athletes don't return. In wrestling, it's almost a rite of passage to return," Konnan added.

Punk's WWE Future

Both pundits were equally vocal about another former AEW talent, CM Punk.

After his unceremonious exit from AEW following a backstage altercation at All In 2023, speculation about Punk's next move has been rampant. According to recent reports, despite teasers on WWE programming, neither Vince McMahon, Triple H, nor WWE President Nick Khan have taken steps to sign Punk.

However, Konnan suggested that a WWE return for Punk might still be on the horizon. "I reached out to CM Punk via Rey Mysterio but never got a response. That silence was enough of an indicator to me that he is probably leaning towards a WWE comeback," Konnan revealed.

The overarching theme of the conversation underscored the cyclical nature of the wrestling industry, where stars frequently oscillate between promotions, making both departures and returns a common spectacle. In the cases of Chris Jericho and CM Punk—both of whom have achieved legendary status during their tenures with WWE—a potential return would not merely signify a sentimental homecoming, but also serve as a seismic event capable of reshaping the wrestling landscape.

Given their iconic statuses, such a development would inevitably capture global attention, setting the stage for fresh storylines and reignited rivalries. As of now, both fans and industry insiders are watching with bated breath, eager to see if the speculations from wrestling veterans Disco Inferno and Konnan materialize into reality.
