Wrestling icon Sting sent shockwaves through the AEW community when he confirmed his impending retirement on the October 18 episode of "AEW Dynamite." The enigmatic superstar revealed that his swan song will unfold at next year's AEW Revolution pay-per-view.

Though the precise date is yet to be unveiled, last year's Revolution took place on March 5, setting the stage for an emotional goodbye. Wrestling Inc's digital platform, previously known as Twitter, recently conducted a poll asking fans who should have the honor of being Sting's final opponent.

An overwhelming 60% of fans voted for Darby Allin, Sting's current tag team partner and protégé. Prominent wrestling figures like Eric Bischoff and Thunder Rosa are among those who concur with the fan sentiment.

Trailing behind Allin, Adam "Edge" Copeland received 18.3% of the votes, while 11.8% opted for "Other," and only 9.2% chose Jeff Jarrett. The poll drew 957 participants, reflecting a considerable interest in Sting's retirement bout.

The connection between Sting and Darby Allin goes beyond their current alliance.

The two have been inseparable since late 2020, adding a sentimental layer to the prospect of their final match-up. Their most recent collaboration happened on the September 22 installment of "AEW Rampage," where they triumphed over AEW TNT Champion Christian Cage and his partner, Luchasaurus.

This victory primed them for a high-stakes confrontation at AEW Full Gear on November 18, where they're slated to clash with Cage, Luchasaurus, and their estranged ally, Nick Wayne.

Sting's Copeland Confrontation

Sting's interaction with Copeland during the latest "Dynamite" episode further deepened the narrative.

Addressing his complex relationship with Cage, his former best friend, Sting ignited speculation that Copeland might just be the tag team partner in question for the upcoming Full Gear match. As fans and analysts continue to weigh in, the clock ticks down to what promises to be an epic finale for Sting, one that encapsulates his enduring legacy and indelible impact on professional wrestling.

Whether the opponent is Allin, Copeland, or someone else entirely, this monumental event is bound to captivate the wrestling world, as it marks the end of an era for one of its most iconic figures.
