Tony Khan Dodges Questions Regarding CM Punk After His MMA Hour Interview

At the time of his signing, CM Punk was one of the most valuable professional wrestlers in the world. However, he did not manage to increase the ratings as much as people thought he would.

CM Punk joined AEW in 2021, at a Dynamite episode that was held in Chicago. He was fired by AEW CEO, Tony Khan, in September 2023. CM Punk recently spoke about his exit from AEW on the MMA Hour, a show that is hosted by Ariel Helwani.

During the interview, CM Punk had a lot of negative things to say about AEW and its EVPs. CM Punk went on to say that Tony Khan is a nice guy more than he is a boss. Tony Khan’s first public appearance since that interview recently took place.

He was on a media call to promote the ROH Supercard Event that will take place on the 5th of April. During that call, Jim Varsallone asked him to comment on the CM Punk interview. Tony Khan refused to comment on it, even though many people would have liked to hear his thoughts on that.

"I'd prefer not to talk about that," Khan said. "I think I'd really rather focus on the card and Supercard of Honor, but thanks for asking." This is an extremely common thing that Tony Khan does. He usually dodges questions that are tough for him to answer.

He usually does that by using some variation of ‘no comment’. He was asked to comment on the various incidents regarding CM Punk. This included his first ever controversy that occurred in 2022, which is now known as the Brawl Out altercation.

Khan has also declined to comment on anything related to CM Punk, before CM Punk’s return to AEW TV during AEW Collision’s first episode. CM Punk made a very controversial promo when he returned as soon as he got the mic.

CM Punk was fired after his backstage encounter with Jack Perry at All In. CM Punk eventually returned to the WWE in November, which is something that the world did not expect at all.
