Eric Bischoff is one of AEW’s biggest critics. According to Eric, AEW has done very little to make AEW a company that can rival WWE. Eric has stated in may interviews that Tony Khan, the AEW President, just wants AEW to be a replica of WCW.

Eric knows what not to do in a wrestling promotion as he led WCW, which was one of the best in the world at one time. Even though WCW was doing well and beat WWE on several occasions, a few bad decisions resulted in the company failing badly.

It was eventually bought by former WWE CEO, Vince McMahon.

Eric thought that airing the backstage footage from All In was a seriously bad idea. The wrestling world still cannot understand properly why it was shown, as many people believe that this did not help AEW achieve anything.

The footage showed the fight between Jack Perry and CM Punk that took place backstage at All In. After that, CM Punk was fired by Tony Khan and CM Punk is now part of the WWE, and is one of their biggest stars. Eric spoke about the footage on Wise Choices.

Even he doesn’t understand the point of showing the footage and how it can help AEW achieve anything. If Tony Khan did it for a small rating bump, it didn’t work well as AEW gained around 200,000 more viewers than usual.

"What the f***? I mean, seriously," he pondered aloud. "I'll normally get on here [and I'll try to point out from my perspective], a different approach for 'Dynamite' to take, perhaps a different approach for Tony Khan to take, but I'm at a loss.

I don't think there's any hope. I honestly don't think there's any hope for AEW as long as Tony Khan's in charge." According to Eric, Tony has a very ‘indie wrestling’ mind. He believes that his decisions align quite well with his passions and interests.

However, Eric stated that Tony needs to think like a television producer if Tony wishes to succeed. This is something that Tony hasn’t done so far. "If you're on television in the United States and your goal is to grow your audience, if your goal is to secure your position with [your cable partner], then your goal also has to be to grow because if you're not growing, you are indeed dying. It's just a matter of when," he explained.
