Last month, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) fans were thrilled by an epic showdown between "The American Dragon" Bryan Danielson and "The Aerial Assassin" Will Ospreay at AEW Dynasty. The crowd was electric, greeting the wrestlers with enthusiastic chants as they entered the ring.

However, the atmosphere shifted dramatically by the end of the match when Danielson suffered a neck injury, turning the audience's excited exclamations into ones of concern. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Danielson reflected on the match and the injury that resulted from it.

He shared insights into the moments leading up to his injury, shedding light on how it unfolded. "All the risky things were safe," Danielson remarked. "Ironically, the move I wasn't worried about at all ended up hurting my neck the most.

It happened when I gave Will a Frankensteiner off the top rope, and he landed on his feet. Everyone was focused on Will's impressive move, but I went straight down on my head."

Neck Injury Challenges

Danielson has a history of neck issues, making even routine moves challenging.

"Even just taking a shoulder tackle or body slam is hard on your neck," he explained. "When you add more complex moves, like the Storm Driver that finished the match, and if you hurt your neck early on, it doesn't bode well for you." The injury occurred during a Frankensteiner attempt, with Ospreay landing on his feet while Danielson landed on his head.

This impact caused a sharp pain to shoot down his arm and compressed several nerve roots. As a result, doctors recently informed Danielson that he would need surgery soon. Despite this, Danielson is determined to push through the pain and continue competing.

Looking ahead, Danielson is set to participate in the Anarchy in the Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing. His commitment to the sport and his resilience in the face of injury exemplify his dedication to wrestling and his fans.

Danielson's injury serves as a reminder of the risks wrestlers take every time they step into the ring. While fans admire the athleticism and spectacle, the physical toll on the wrestlers is immense. Bryan Danielson's story highlights both the excitement and the hazards of professional wrestling, showcasing the incredible dedication of athletes who perform at the highest level.
