During the airing of AEW All In 2024’s Zero Hour, All Elite Wrestling announced that it will make its Australian debut at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium with the AEW Grand Slam Australia event on 15th February 2025.

The news about a possible show there had already been released a few days ago, as reported on our pages, with Tom Naghten of Sporting News Australia who had reported that the AEW was working with a deep search for a large stadium in Australia to hold a stadium show in 2025. The candidate stadiums were: Sydney’s Allianz Stadium, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium and Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, and of course the last one was chosen.

The All Elite Wrestling so seems very convinced in continuing its path towards global expansion through many more stadium events, a great signal along with the fact that there will probably be a nice TV deal for its programming.

AEW makes a big announcement

Interviewed by Comicbook.com, AEW’s President and CEO responded to these rumours by saying: 'It is not something we thought about doing in the near future, but it is an exciting idea and something that I think we could absolutely do and something that would be very interesting.

I cannot comment on the accuracy of such reports or the immediate future, but we have had great shows over the years in Texas. We never did a pay-per-view AEW in Texas. We made a lot of Ring of Honor there. Many of the biggest TV episodes of AEW have been in Texas, but the only thing we never brought was a pay-per-view from All Elite Wrestling there, and God knows how many requests there are to do this. I think it would be a fascinating thing to try."

Swerve Strickland’s rise to AEW was simply impressive due to his ring skills and unmatched charisma. The fact that he is the current AEW World Champion, with these premises, is certainly not a surprise and not even a coincidence.
