The curtain has just been drawn at Wembley Stadium for AEW All In, which saw a landmark match between Bryan Danielson and Swerve Strickland in the main event. The pot was very rich: Bryan Danielson put his career on the line, while Swerve Strickland put his AEW World Champion belt on the line.
For the atmosphere, for what we saw in the meeting and for the wonderful frame that the public gave, this match could not be more than the main event... And maybe it could not end differently: The American Dragon has not only kept his career, which will continue despite poor physical condition, but also snatched away from Swerve - fresh from contractual renewal - the title of AEW World Champion.
While Bryan Danielson’s win was no surprise to many, much more can be said for the Casino Gauntlet Match which saw none other than Christian Cage, leader of The Patriarchy, triumph and take the title shot for the AEW World Championship. The victory of this title opportunity came just a short distance from the loss suffered in the Ladder Match that opened this gigantic London event and saw the team consisting of Pac, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta become the Trios champions.
Bryan Danielson shone
Of course, nothing is known about when Bryan Danielson’s first defence will be held. What is certain is that of all the possible scenarios this was on paper the scenario potentially least likely to occur and that none of us would have expected, given the other figures in the Casino Gauntlet Match that Christian Cage won.
Although not officially under contract, Danielson expressed the will to continue working with All Elite Wrestling, stating that he always finds time to respond to calls from AEW president Tony Khan when he does. American Dragon also explained that the two will explore options together when the time is right, but for now, his priority after finishing his career in the ring is to focus on his neck, since he probably has another surgery.
