In two weeks, the ace is back in the ring as HOOK will defend his FTW Championship at “AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam”. However, this match will also feature HOOK defending the title against Roderick Strong, the record-setting three-time FTW Champion. HOOK’s announcement comes almost weeks after he defeated Chris in one of the matches, which made him reign for the third time as FTW Champion over Jericho.
Such an eagerly awaited match was first announced at the opening match of the Saturday episode of “Collision” last week. A special LO announcement showed this graphic before the Championship Match. It was HOOK’s first title defense since becoming the champion. The build-up for this match dates back to the 11th of September on AEW Dynamite, when HOOK formalized a challenge to Strong in a video, making it clear there was a fight pending.
FTW Rules Match
As such, this latest chapter has particularly piqued fans' interest as numerous side matches are being added, including an FTW Rules match. However, specific stipulations are missing, and the FTW Championship is typically non-disqualification, which means that the participants are likely to be more violent rather than staying at the regulatory measures. The event is expected to happen on the 25th of September, and this is one of this night’s headliner matches.
Mark your calendars as "Grand Slam," which is one event that has been surcharged towards turning out to be a MASSIVE event with both live coverage of "AEW Dynamite" and a taped coverage of "Collision." HOOK's title defense against Strong is the only syndicated singles title match on the card. However, Bryan Danielson was first scheduled to defend the AEW World Champion against Darby Allin Long. The last few weeks of “Dynamite” have made this problematic as Jon Moxley now has the angle at Allin and is thus coveting that position. On the other hand, if he decides to show up, Danielson is also booked to take on his perennial foe, Nigel McGuinness.
