Eddie Kingston, a star wrestler in AEW, has been suffering from injuries since June after the NJPW Resurgence venues. He recently gave insights about himself and the recovery period in terms of injuries. Kingston, who lost the Strong Openweight Championship and suffered an onslaught from the Elite afterward, opened up on his comeback on The DAVINci Report.
“I’m starting to get itchy at home,” Kingston said while revealing his dominance to step back in the ring,” I am quite certain I would be kept well by the doctors, and I would be making movements by then.” That situation, he said, is like this: “Ok, we have done all the baby stuff, let's get to work.” Even as he has made physical progress, Kingston confessed that dealing with the injury has also been a mental ordeal. But despite these, however so, ever, he is thankful for being in AEW, where while he is healing up, reasonably good checks still come in—something he did not enjoy while out in the Independent wrestling world.
“That's a blessing in disguise,” Kingston said, looking back at his career. “As a human being, there is the tendency to dwell on the negatives. However, I appreciate that there is always a positive side.” He would also talk about how, back in the day, it was common to work through the injuries simply because there were rents to be paid. Existing in the independent scene made him fight through the pain to get by, which is the opposite of how it is now in AEW.
Kingston Explains Absence
Kingston justified himself after being asked why he had not been cutting any promos or making any appearances while recovering. “The Mad King” has always had a specific approach when dealing with injuries and prefers not to appear onscreen if he cannot hold back.
“The only time I want to be there is if I’m in the ring, and I don’t know, like if I’m not there to be in the ring? I don’t want to be there,” he stated. “If you want to ask me, to make me and want to make me work, to give you all of me, and not have me for everything, then no."
