Conrad Thompson on CM Punk not signing with AEW

Conrad Thompson's interest in podcasting began after meeting ECW wrestler Shane Douglas, who Thompson met after pledging a significant amount of money to a crowdfunding drive for a documentary about ECW. After a positive experience with Douglas, Thompson later approached wrestling manager Jim Cornette with an offer of $1,500 in exchange to come to his house and tell stories for a couple of hours.

Before long, word spread, and with Douglas and Cornette vouching for him, numerous wrestling personalities agreed to meet and be interviewed by Thompson. In a recent interview with Wrestling Inc, Thompson commented on CM Punk not signing with AEW: “I don’t think there’s any real finality with AEW.

They didn’t cut a deal right away but for that matter neither did Tony Schiavone and other talents. A lot of times we as fans speak with finality and this is a never say never type of deal. I don’t think it’s a ‘no’ but rather a ‘not yet.’ I haven’t really talked to him about it and I don’t care; I want him to be happy and do what he wants to do.

But at one point we said, ‘CM Punk will never be back in WWE.’ But now it’s a conversation again. Maybe when all of these movie premieres are done and behind him and he’s looking around for his next project and the right offer comes along, I think he will do it.

We’ve got enough hints that he’s not totally opposed to the idea. It’s just got to be the right deal and I don’t think he’s been offered the right deal at the right time yet. And timing is everything”.
