Jim Ross worked for WWE, as a commentator, and for Fox Sports, where he writes commentary on professional wrestling for FoxSports.com. He was also the lead announcer for New Japan Pro-Wrestling on AXS TV and occasionally does play-by-play for boxing and mixed martial arts.
As of February 2014 Ross began hosting his own weekly podcast, The Jim Ross Report. Ross was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2007. He is known affectionately as "Good ol' JR", was widely regarded as the voice of the WWE particularly during The Attitude Era, and has been labelled as one of the greatest wrestling commentators of all time.
He has also worked for the National Wrestling Alliance and WCW. Outside of wrestling, Ross is known for his barbecue sauce and beef jerky. In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, the WWE Hall of Famer expressed his thoughts on the Jon Moxley vs.
Kenny Omega matchup: “It was a different match to call. They weren’t working the arm. It didn’t have the standard route that a match takes. Based on the amount of legitimate physical punishment that Moxley and Kenny incurred, it may have gone a little too long—but I haven’t seen two guys work any harder to get something over in years. The passion in that match was a breath of fresh air for our business”.
