AEW Mixed Tag Matches A Thing Now?

Since starting, All Elite Wrestling has produced a number of impressive matches. AEW is going toe to toe with WWE NXT and is kind of beating it so far. They are still not miles ahead of NXT, but they might get there if they hire more former WWE Wrestlers.

This week Chris Jericho will hold the "Rock 'N' Wrestling Rager at Sea: Part Deux" cruise. During it, AEW’s first-ever mixed tag team match will take place. The Elite made a video about it. Kenny Omega will team up with Riho, who is the current AEW Women’s Champion.

They will fight Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian. As noted, AEW has not ever tried mixed tag matches. They are also not very popular in the WWE either and are definitely not the promotion’s main attraction. That is one of the reasons why they do not take place as much as they used to at one time.

According to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling Observer Live, AEW wants to tryout this format. Also, it is reported that Kenny Omega wants more mixed tag team action to take place on AEW. He even wants an entirely separate division.

We do not know whether AEW will go ahead with this format or not. We also do not know whether they will form a mixed tag team division or not, as it might require a lot of resources.
