Cody Rhodes is best known for his past history between 2007 and 2016 in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), where he won the Intercontinental Championship twice, three times the WWE Tag Team Championship and three times the World Tag Team Championship.
In 2013, together with his half-brother Goldust, he won the Slammy Award as Tag Team of the Year. Speaking with Dave Meltzer and Wrestling Observer Radio, the former WWE superstar discussed AEW possibly adding another title: “I’ve kind of gone on the record with it, I hate the term mid-card, I get what it means though, I get what people mean when they’re saying it.
Everything’s a first with AEW, and we’re moving slowly in certain areas and we’re moving rocket speed in other areas. Again, you gotta talk to Tony, because it’s an idea, obviously, that’s on the table.
But what do you do first? And I’m just kinda throwing this out there for fans to kind of put in their mind. What do you do first? Do you do a women’s tag title first? Or do you do a title that’s not unlike the television title? These are real questions.
I think we have an idea that’s different than anything that’s been done, and I would just hope that everybody remains patient and their kind of yearning or lust for that type of belt, championship, will be satiated in 2020. Again, I’m not saying there’s a mid-card title”.
