Cody discusses how he has a loose connection to Tiger King

Cody Rhodes is best known for his past years between 2006 and 2016 in the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), a federation in which he won the Intercontinental Championship twice, three times the WWE Tag Team Championship (twice with Goldust and once with Drew McIntyre) and three times the World Tag Team Championship (twice with Ted DiBiase Jr.

and once with Hardcore Holly). Following his departure from WWE, Rhodes began wrestling on the independent circuit, also making several appearances in Total Nonstop Action (TNA). In the time frame spanning from early 2016 to early 2017, he competed at WWE's WrestleMania, Ring of Honor (ROH)'s Final Battle and the New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW) Wrestle Kingdom events as well as appearing for TNA at Bound for Glory.

In September 2017, Rhodes wrestled in ROH, where he became a one-time ROH World Champion, one-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion (due to ROH's partnership with the National Wrestling Alliance), one-time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion and a one-time ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion (with The Young Bucks)—at one point holding the NWA World, IWGP U.S., and ROH Six-Man titles simultaneously.

In an interview with Bleacher Report Live, he discussed how he has a loose connection to Tiger King: “I had this very loose kind of connection to Tiger King, very loose, as far as, I went to a sanctuary that was in Melrose, FL, a really great tiger sanctuary called Single Vision, and they took tigers that, situations like Joe Exotic or situations like, there is a bit of an epidemic in the country with people who get these big cats and then they don’t know what to do with them, like you saw on the show, so they would go to places like Joe, or Carole, whomever, however you weigh in on it, they would go to places like that, and he would be a sanctuary for certain cats, but, I’m trying not to implicate anyone.

I had heard the Carole Baskin story like five years ago, and it was just a universally known thing, like amongst that world, amongst the tiger world, that like, ‘Hey, don’t mess with her, this is what she did.’ Now I’m not saying I believe it, but I was told as if it was absolute fact, so when it was brought up on the show, my mind was blown”.
