Ignition is the next big event that New Japan Pro Wrestling will hold on American soil. A show that will coincide with Impact Wrestling's Slammiversary 20th Anniversary date. The Japanese event, known for its NJPW Strong series, will also be the first post-Dominion PPV in which Bullet Club leader Jay White will challenge Kazuchika Okada for his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
Analyzing the facts carefully, Ignition could prove to be the first show where White could appear for the first time with the new title around life. We don't know for sure how the Dominion main event will turn out, but we do know what the main event of this new event will be.
The Bullet Club, through the figures of Jay White and Hikuelo, will face the team made up of Hiroshi Tanahashi and Uemura. White and "The Ace" have had several career precedents, in February 2019 Jay defeated Tanahashi to graduate for the first time ever as the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion (reign later ended at Madison Square Garden in a one on one with Kazuchika Okada) and in May 2021 where White triumphed again and won the NEVER Openweight Championship, a belt that made it possible for him to become the first Grand Slam Champion in NJPW history.
Ignition is the next big NJPW event
NJPW's Annual Wrestle Kingdom 12 pay-per-view aired on the 4th of January this year and was immensely successful in front of a sold-out Tokyo Dome. NJPW owner Takaaki Kidani spoke to Tokyo Sports about the direction he wants to take NJPW in.
Ignition will take place in Hollywood's Vermont on June 19th with tickets still available. Jay White's been a part of NJPW for a long time, with his initial association with the federation coming in 2015. After a brief break in 2016, he returned to it in 2017 and where he's been for almost six years now..
