Rob Van Dam was at one time a very popular WWE wrestler. He was one of ECW’s most valuable wrestlers, and WWE acquired him after they bought ECW. Rob Van Dam was known for performing high risk moves that looked very painful.

He regularly put his body on the line to entertain the fans. For example, he would regularly put his opponents underneath laid out ladders and then slam himself on the ladder using his move called Rolling Thunder.

He had an alright career in the WWE, but never rose to the top.

However, he did rise to the top of TNA between 2010 and 2013. In fact, TNA gained some viewers due to RVD performing for them. RVD is a WWE Hall of Famer now, and he recently spoke about his TNA run on the ‘1 Of A Kind’ podcast.

Before joining TNA, RVD wrestled on the indie circuit. At the time RVD joined TNA, it was the second largest promotion in the United States. RVD hasn’t spoken about his time at TNA, but this time he did. "It was awesome," RVD said.

"At that time, TNA was being talked at as another option, an alternative place to work that could possibly take care of you so that you're making a comparable amount of money." Rob has to fight Jeff Hardy and AJ Styles on separate occasions.

He won those matches and won the TNA Title. He shared a small detail about what Eric Bischoff said to him before his match with AJ Styles. Apparently, Eric wanted Rob to squash AJ Styles. Eric wasn’t very impressed by AJ Styles probably.

"Eric Bischoff didn't seem too impressed with AJ," RVD said. "Before going out there, I just remember Eric saying just make it really short and quick, five-star frog splash middle of the ring, it sounded like he wanted me to squash the dude, which of course I didn't want to do.

AJ's very talented, and we had a lot of matches together that were really good." Rob revealed that he suffered a back injury during his TNA run that prevented him to perform very well at a high level. He believes that is the reason why his matches against AJ Styles could never reach a level that he originally thought they would.
