NXT Tag Titles match: MSK (c) vs Burch & Lorcan; We are offered a high-intensity match thanks to the remarkable agility and speed that the champions have between the strings that we remember being inversely proportional to their verve outside the ring.
Even the exhausting ones are no less and they try in every way to take the loaf home without getting the desired result. In fact, the champions manage to score their final maneuver and get the final pin. Result: MSK pinfall victory which is confirmed once again NXT Tag Team Champions.
Post-match Lorcan and Burch are joined by their companions Dunne and Holland who, after an exchange of glances, attack them, literally knocking them out and thus putting an end to the history of King of NXT. Backstage on NXT, William Regal let us know that Tommaso Ciampa, L.A Knight, Kyle O'Reilly, and Pete Dunne would compete in a Fatal Four-way match to decide Samoa Joe's first title challenger.
In February, Samoa Joe was suspended for violating WWE’s wellness policy. However, he did return in April but again as a commentator.
What's next for Samoa Joe?
On the latest edition of RAW, Seth Rollins walked out to answer Dominik’s challenge.
However, Rollins turned his attention to broadcaster Tom Phillips for cheering Dominik’s assault the previous week. As Rollins planned on sacrificing Phillips, Joe intervened to make the save. However, instead of Joe’s return, this served as a distraction for another Dominik assault on Rollins.
However, this blink of a return has got the WWE Universe buzzing. NXT was headlined by a solid Tag Team Championship match pitting MSK against Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. However, much like in the Women's Tag Title match earlier on, there was no title change.
MSK retained their belts and after the match, Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland betrayed their stablemates. The two of them systematically and brutally decimated Lorcan and Burch. One could see this moment coming from a mile away.
This does not bode well for the former NXT Tag Team Champions at all, who look set to drop down the card. Hopefully, there is a plan for Dunne and Holland to add another tag team to their ranks. On the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed William Regal’s promo is a cue for Samoa Joe to takeover.
He added that it isn’t a sure thing. Although he’s definitely hearing of Joe returning in a Regal-like role. Meltzer said, “I think that’s the cue for Samoa Joe. I don’t know that 100%. I was told today that Samoa Joe was gonna be in a Regal-like role, then all of a sudden Regal’s talking like he’s stepping down, so maybe the Regal-like role is Regal’s role”.
