Since last week, NXT has had a new face and a new home, with the third brand of the WWE finally changing face, bringing more lights, more color, more fans to the Orlando CWC and also more heat. After weeks of preparation, with WWE tweaking virtually everything from the company's third show, the sensational surprise was unveiled to fans, with a new NXT champion putting the final icing on the cake, with Tommaso Ciampa returning.
to reign on the former yellow WWE roster, which can now be called the "color roster", seeing the new logo created by McMahons. However, in the second installment of the new era of NXT, a new champion was crowned in the brand's latest episode, with Roderick Strong taking the company's lightweight title for the first time in his career, beating the former Cruiserweight Champion: KUSHIDA.
WWE NXT was rebranded into WWE NXT 2.0
Regarding the all-important 18-49 demo, WWE NXT also saw a slight drop from last week from 0.21 to 0.20. With viewership and demo only slightly down, this has to be seen as a positive sign for the brand as they look to continue shifting the former black and gold brand into a new future.
Last week, WWE NXT took the 10th spot on cable for Wednesday. This week, they dropped slightly to the 11th spot. The numbers dropped slightly across the board for WWE NXT 2.0. Regardless of online opinion, it looks like the fanbase is interested in what WWE NXT 2.0 currently has to offer.
Thanks to the unfailing support of his stable, the Diamond Mine, the former member of the Undisputed Era, now disbanded months and months ago, managed to beat the Japanese WWE holder of the lightweight title. To help Strong, in fact, the manager Malcolm Bivens arrived, who put his client's foot on the ropes, while KUSHIDA was intent on subjecting him to his Hoverboard Lock.
All the rest of the Diamond Mine then managed to distract the Japanese for the rest of the match, making sure that Strong could secure the victory, snatching the lightweight title from the previous champion. Immediately after the win, however, Roderick Strong received his very first champion challenge, with Grayson Waller stepping out of the backstage to claim a titled match next week, in the next appointment with WWE's NXT.
We will see how the situation evolves and above all we will see if KUSHIDA will immediately request his rematch for the title he just lost or not.
