This Sunday, WWE will stage its ppv dedicated to NXT, or rather the new version of NXT, 2.0. After having seen dozens and dozens of quite drastic changes on the television screens of the third brand of the McMahon family company, now we will also see the first NXT WarGames dedicated to the Stamford-based federation's color roster.
As longtime pro-wrestling fans will surely remember, the name War Games derives from an old match / ppv of the defunct WCW, with WWE having wanted to revive this name for a few years now, just as it did with other NXT ppv or special episode names, such as Halloween Havoc, Great American Bash and several others.
Also in the episode aired tonight on USA Network, there were some news that WWE has included in the card of the event that will be broadcast on the night of Sunday 5 December, such as the inclusion of the titled match valid for the Men's NXT Tag Team Championship.
Latest news on NXT WarGames
In the episode of NXT ended just a few hours ago, the unusual couple formed by the former Undisputed Era Kyle O'Reilly and the mighty Von Wagner, won their match against the Legado Del Fantasma, to receive the title shot to go to challenge the Imperium with the belts of WWE color roster duo champions at stake.
This Sunday we will therefore see if there will be a new pair of champions or if the two European athletes will keep their belts firmly in their lives. But let's see the rest of the card of the event that we remember will be broadcast on the WWE Network in Italy, on the night between Sunday 5 and Monday 6 December: - NXT Tag Team Championship match: Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner) vs Kyle O 'Reilly & Von Wagner - NXT Cruiserweight Championship match: Roderick Strong vs Joey Gacy - Cameron Grimes vs Duke Hudson - Hair vs Hair match - NXT WarGames match: Cora Jade, Kay Lee Ray, Io Shirai, & Raquel Gonzalez vs Dakota Kai, Mandy Rose, Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jane - War Games match: Bron Breakker, Grayson Waller, Tony D'Angelo, & Carmelo Hayes vs LA Knight, Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, & Pete Dunne.
After Ciampa had stalked Thatcher for a couple of weeks, the brawler had choked him unconscious on the go-home episode of NXT TakeOver: WarGames. The match kicked off with a much more focused Ciampa taking control early but Thatcher was able to turn the tides soon after.
Both men delivered some thunderous strikes, and the slow start turned into an extremely physical encounter. The Blackheart of NXT delivered a great superplex to Thatcher off the top rope to stay in the contest.
