Ted DiBiase on Taking a Bump at NXT

During the WWE NXT past summer, one of the big highlights was the angle between WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase, Cameron Grimes, and LA Knight. The angle took place on the 15th of June. LA Ted gave Knight the Million Dollar Championship.

During the angle, Ted was attacked by Knight which resulted in him getting knocked down to the ground. “This is, honestly, if I can just be 100% serious, this is the greatest moment of my wrestling career,” LA Knight said the moment he accepted the Title Belt.

“And it would be the honor of my life for you to officially crown me the Million Dollar Champion”.

“Son, I’d be happy to,” Ted DiBiase replied to him.

After that Knight attached Ted and started stomping him. Grimes came in time to support Ted and get him out of trouble. Ted recently appeared as a guest on Fightful Select. According to him, the segment was supposed to be a bit different.

Originally, security guards were supposed to catch Ted as he fell to the ground. However, this did not happen. “The company pitched the angle and spot to DiBiase and told him they could have security guards catch DiBiase as he fell, so that would be easier on his body, and their consciences.

However, DiBiase was insistent on taking the bump, and said that he wanted to take the bump just like he had during his wrestling days to make LA Knight look as good as possible”. Ted then got his reference at TakeOver 36 when he interfered in the match between Grimes and Knight.

Knight lost the Million Dollar Championship that night as a result of the interference. On the 24th of August, the storyline ended when Grimes and Ted celebrated “straight to the moon”. The segment also included $100 bills falling from the sky with Grimes’ face on it.

When the two departed, Ted played the ol’ switcheroo. He actually switch the real Million Dollar Title with the fake one. He left the fake one with Grimes with his signature laugh. Ted DiBiase was known as the million dollar man when he was working as an active WWE performer.

He has a very unique gimmick and many people say that he was one of the most entertaining wrestling characters of all time.
