Now let's move on to the debut match of one of the stars from Nxt UK. SINGLES MATCH: A-Kid vs Kushida; The match is very intense thanks to the agility of both athletes. Kushida repeatedly tries to imprison his opponent in submission maneuvers without obtaining the desired result.
NXT UK’s A-Kid made the jump to the big leagues this week. He took on KUSHIDA in his debut match for the brand. It was announced that the winner would face Grayson Waller to qualify for the NXT North American Championship ladder match.
A-Kid shone
KUSHIDA hit a German Suplex and nearly picked up the win with the Northern Lights. A-Kid hit a beautiful tilt-a-whirl DDT and picked up a massive victory on his debut. It was a great first match for A-Kid, who needed a top performer to work against.
KUSHIDA has been underutilized, and it was good to see him come out and give the newcomer a good rub. A-Kid tries to respond to Kushida's offensives but the Japanese seems to be in a state of grace managing to repel all A-Kid's counterattacks until he decides to press on the accelerator and put in a combo that ends with a splendid DDT from the third rope that gives him the victory.
Result: A-Kid pinfall victory. Following Indi Hartwell's victory over Persia Pirotta, Indi celebrated in the ring by kissing her husband, Dexter Lumis. Persia followed suit and proceeded to do the same with her partner Duke Hudson.
This resulted in both ladies trying to one-up each other, and eventually, both couples were on the canvas making out. Triple H teased a subsidiary of NXT a while back. Former Evolve bookers Gabe Sapolsky and Jeremy Borash are on board as creative consultants.
The show will reportedly serve as a behind-the-scenes, as well as a launch-pad for superstars trying to make it to the NXT roster. Recently, Fightful Select and Wrestling Observer Radio confirmed the name of the show will be NXT EVOLVE and the pilot episode is complete.
The former reports that “the show had more of a ‘fight’ feel and took place at an Orlando warehouse”. As they are trying to embark upon a new journey, having Gabe Sapolsky, the founder of EVOLVE, is definitely a tremendous advantage.
Sapolsky is an NXT consultant since 2018. He recently tweeted, “Everything is a team effort at NXT. Everything is fluid and fluctuates. My name doesn’t belong attached to anything like I’m running another independent promotion. Thank you”.
