There are so many talented wrestlers in the world that prefer staying out of the WWE if they are doing well on the indie circuit. In fact, most indie wrestlers actually reject offers from the WWE if they think that the WWE might ruin their careers.
It is true that the WWE is a big promotion and getting to the top of the promotion is no easy task. Kyle O’Reilly is a Canadian Grappler who worked in Japan before joining the WWE. For a long time, he didn’t even think that that WWE is an option for him and he stated in an interview that he would have been fine working in Japan for the rest of his life.
He was a guest on the Edge and Christian podcast when he told his story. "It's something that I've always wanted to do, was wrestle in Japan because I was just such a fan of the style and such a fan of Japanese culture and how pro wrestling was so highly regarded over there and how wrestlers are treated with such respect.
It was a dream come true to get to go over there," O'Reilly recalled. "Oh yeah, absolutely [working in Japan forever would have been fine]. And for a lot of my career, I loved wrestling and I still would be doing it if I never made a dime doing it.
I just love to do it so much. But I really felt at peace and at home in Japan. Like, the fans were really getting behind us and I had really important matches throughout my body of work, I guess, stuff that I can be proud of looking back."
