This morning we reported that Roxanne Perez, formerly known as Rok-C on the independent circuit and in Ring Of Honor, managed to defeat Mandy Rose for the NXT Women's title last night, ending her reign of 413 days. The young athlete quickly made her way to NXT, managing to amaze all the fans who immediately started rooting for her even in the rivalry against her former friend and tag team partner Cora Jade.
In an NXT Exclusive video after the episode aired last night, Roxanne wanted to comment on this very important victory of hers: "About 2016, I have it right here written on my wrist, it's the year I started doing wrestling.
I was 14, and that was the day I said, 'I'm going to do everything I can to make sure I get to WWE. No matter what it takes, I'm going to get there.' My whole life revolved around wrestling up until now. Everything I've done I've done to be here and for this belt.
I'm sure you've seen it, I just burst into tears out there. It was all worth it All the trials, the tribulations, the ups and downs. Every single thing was worth it. This is proof to every little girl out there that no matter what you tell yourself, no matter what doubts are in your mind, it can happen.
You can become the NXT Women's Champion."
Update on Roxanne Perez's status
For the uninitiated, Booker T has been training Roxanne Perez since she was very young and also during NXT Deadline, when the girl won the match to go against Mandy Rose making history as the first winner of the Iron Survivor Challenge Match, we saw him moved at the commentary table.
After winning the title instead, he wrote on Twitter: "From Reality Of Wrestling to NXT, you have always been a champion Roxanne!" WWE legend Booker T also thinks Tommaso Ciampa should not move to the main roster and should be a key part of the NXT brand.
"Tommaso Ciampa, I think if he came to the main roster, he'd get lost in the shuffle. In NXT, he's going to be playing at a high level, he's going to play a big role there, he's great for those younger guys coming up that he can actually help, hopefully, mentor and guide to what is going to take for you guys to go to the next level.
If that's talking bad about somebody, I wished somebody talked about me like that sometimes. A guy like Tommaso Ciampa, he's perfect for NXT - and people can take that and look at it however they want. There, again, if someone was calling me 'perfect', I'd take it any day of the week," said Booker T.
