WWE is no doubt worried about the AEW. They are extremely popular right now and are putting out great shows. They also have managed to sign some of the best former WWE stars and are growing as a business. In order to compete with AEW Dynamite, WWE has placed NXT against it.
NXT airs on Wednesday on the USA Network. AEW Dynamite airs on TNT on Wednesday. They air at the same time. So far, Dynamite is beating NXT. In order to combat this, WWE is putting its best stars in NXT. Finn Balor is now a part of the NXT roster, and he was one of the top main roster talents.
Balor spoke about competing with AEW on Sports Illustrated. "I don't know if we're competing with anyone," he said. "The only person I'm competing with is myself from yesterday. I'm trying to be better than who I was yesterday.
On this Wednesday, I'm going to be better than I was last Wednesday. That's the way I approach life and that's how I evolve. I don't worry about what other people are doing. I'm focused on the brand I'm currently working for.
"People talk about going back to NXT. For me, NXT is the purest form of wrestling on this planet in every sense. To be able to step in that ring and do what I do best, with no restrictions whatsoever, is the greatest honor I can have”.
