Johnny Gargano pulled from WWE NXT: Vengeance Day

The next big NXT event will be held on Sunday, February 14, for Valentine's Day, and will bring back an old WWE PPV: Vengeance. Among the great matches scheduled was the one valid for the North American Title between the reigning champion Johnny Gargano and KUSHIDA.

The meeting, apparently, will no longer be staged due to the absence of Gargano. The announcement was made on Twitter by stablemate Austin Theory, who said: "No Johnny TakeOver this Sunday, but Kushida you will pay for what you did because this is the way"

At the moment the WWE has not yet officially communicated the change of the match, so it is very likely that the explanations around the mysterious absence of Gargano will be given this evening during the episode of the yellow show.

We do not know if the fighter has suffered complications due to Covid, as recently happened with Mia Yim, or if it is simply a storyline.

We remind you how over the last few years the rumors about a possible promotion of Johnny Gargano in the main roster had spread several times, but the plans never materialized.

The person concerned had also stated that he was happy to stay at NXT and to consider it his "home" Gargano has been back from a five-star match during the past TakeOver and was also the first Triple Crown Champion of the yellow show.

He holds the record for winning the NXT North American Championship, won three times. The latest, in chronological order, dates back to TakeOver WarGames IV in December where he defeated Leon Ruff and Damian Priest in a Triple Threat Match.

The wrestler is currently the head of a stable called The Way, which includes partner Candice LeRae, Austin Theory and Indi Hartwell. We will see if his positive trend within the yellow show can continue or not. WWE NXT has not officially announced that Johnny Gargano will miss TakeOver yet.

This could have been their way of breaking the disappointing news. Hopefully, whatever is keeping Johnny Gargano from NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day won’t keep the NXT North American Champion out of action for long. WWE NXT put out a tweet saying that Johnny Wrestling sustained an injury.

They did not specify how Gargano is injured or when he will be back in action. Due to his absence, Austin Theory will take on KUSHIDA this week on NXT. This situation changes up WWE NXT tonight, but it also switches up the TakeOver card in a big way. We’ll have to see if they book another match in place of the North American Title match.
