On the eve of the recent NXT episode, WWE promised its fans two big announcements that would be broadcast live by Wednesday night's yellow show General Manager William Regal. As promised, the former King of the Ring of the Stamford company, microphone in hand, made his two big announcements during the night, going to discover his cards and confirming the rumors that have been hovering around the federation for a few days.
If in the first announcement Regal confirmed how the next NXT TakeOver will be divided into two evenings, with NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver which will in fact be broadcast on both 7 and 8 April, in Wrestlemania Week, with an evening that will go broadcast on USA Network and another one that will go live on Peacock TV, the second announcement has something historic for the third WWE roster.
William Regal made two monumental announcements on WWE NXT
After seeing the massive tag team match between WWE tag team champions Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler and the winners of the first edition of the women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, during last week's episode of NXT, the General Manager William Regal promised that there would be some big news on this matter, after the main roster champions had kept their belts after a hard-fought match.
After having called into the ring Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez, the winners of the tag team tournament dedicated to the memory of the late WWE Hall of Famer, William Regal also wanted to present the new NXT women's couple titles, thus presenting the two brand new belts, which from now on will become part of the yellow roster of the company, crowning Gonzalez and Kai as the first two champions of the roster.
After carrying out a promo in full heel style, the two athletes, however, crossed their first two challengers for the titles, which will be none other than Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon. Blackheart was isolated by Gonzalez and Kai early but the tides were turned once Moon came into the match.
Moon and Blackheart tried hard to keep Gonzalez out of the ring and continued to work over The Captain of Team Kick. The War Goddess set herself up the Eclipse, but the powerful Gonzalez stopped Moon in her tracks. Moon and Gonzalez took the fight outside the ring, leaving Kai and Blackheart inside.
This allowed Blackheart to roll-up Kai for three-count and win the NXT Tag Team Championships. While WWE should have allowed Kai and Gonzalez to hold onto the titles till NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, it seems the creative division has something else in mind.
