Jay Lethal and ROH World Championship title defence head to Israel

World Championship title-holder Jay Lethal will be travelling to Israel in April 2019 to defend his Ring of Honor (ROH) title, according to a report published in the Jerusalem Post (based on an announcement made on the ROH website).

Lethal will take on American-Israeli wrestler David Starr (who also goes by the nickname The Product). The event will be held on 21st April at the Bearle Club in Netanya and will be a part of the Israeli Pro Wrestling Association's (IPWA) Passover Bash event.

This will be the first time that the ROH title defence event will be held in Israel. Speaking about hosting the event, Gery Roif, IPWA's founder said, "It is a huge honor to have Jay. I think he represents everything a pro wrestler should be, both in and out of the ring."

The Passover Bash event will also see a match between Roif, a wrestler himself, and Matt Sydal. The latter is another American-Israeli wrestler who used to wrestle with the WWE and until recently, with Impact Wrestling. Currently, Sydal is a free agent after leaving Impact.

More matches are expected to be announced in the days leading up to the event for which ticket sales have already opened. Lethal recently surpassed Samoa Joe's record of most number of days (combined) as the ROH World Champion. Lethal has been the world champion for 660 days whereas Joe was the world champion for 645 days.
