Emerging as a veritable comet in the AEW firmament, Anna Jay proved her mettle early on, demonstrating a surprising level of proficiency for a wrestler with fewer than ten matches under her belt when she first signed on as an extra during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a product of the Nightmare Factory, she quickly became one of AEW's home-grown stars, earning her contract and a legion of fans. During her tenure, she formed a close bond with fellow AEW native "Jungle Boy" Jack Perry.
The two, who announced their relationship in June 2021, have largely kept their romance separate from their on-screen personas, yet their connection resonates behind the scenes. On Monday, Jay guested on USA Today's "Under the Ring" podcast, sharing her perspective on the impending "four pillars four-way" battle for MJF's AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing, where her boyfriend Jungle Boy will be a competitor.
"It's a tricky situation," Jay mused, "I am part of the Jericho Appreciation Society, and we have Sammy Guevara, a phenomenal talent. My loyalties lie with Jungle Boy, who I'm supporting off-screen. But then there's MJF, the clear frontrunner.
I hate to admit it, but I don't envision him losing the title. But in wrestling, nothing is certain. I'll be cheering for an upset, and regardless, it will be a stellar match."
Anna Jay Surreal Journey with Jericho
Jay shared her long-standing admiration for Chris Jericho, which made her inclusion in the Jericho Appreciation Society almost surreal.
"I never imagined I'd meet him, let alone work with him and be part of his faction. It's been an incredible journey," Jay expressed. She also highlighted Matt Menard as the JAS's comedic relief, much like John Silver was to her in the Dark Order.
The highly anticipated Double or Nothing event will occur on May 28 in Las Vegas. It will be available via traditional pay-per-view and Bleacher Report Live in the U.S. and internationally on FITE TV.
