Eli Drake Joins NWA at ROH Best in The World

A number of popular indie wrestlers are still present on the indie circuit. Even though indie wrestling promotions cannot be as big as the WWE, they are still doing pretty well for themselves these days. Eli Drake is a professional wrestler that used to work for Impact Wrestling.

It was recently revealed that he has signed with NWA. He was present at Ring of Honor’s Best in the World PPV. The event was held in Baltimore, Maryland. It appears to be an exclusive contract. He replaced Colt Cabana in Nick Aldis’ team.

Colt Cabana and Nick Aldis were originally going to fight The Briscoes but Cabana had to pull out of the contest as he suffered a hematoma on his quadriceps. Aldis announced before the beginning of the show that his new partner will be one that has very recently signed with NWA.

That person was Drake. As previously stated, Drake was an Impact Wrestling wrestler. He joined the company in 2015 and stayed with the company until April of this year. Impact Wrestling announced that they had released him and he was a free agent earlier this month.

In Impact Wrestling, Drake won the Impact World Title and the Impact World Tag Titles. Eli Drake had to leave the company after he refused to fight Tessa Blanchard and spoke against the idea of Inter-gender matches. His comments were met with a lot of controversy.
