Matt is well-known for turning up to shows with merchandise which he sells. He also interacts with fans. He spoke about the importance of connecting with fans on the Busted Open Radio.

He stated that through his merchandise sales, he can connect with fans. It gives him a change to meet his fans, and selling merchandise is not just a way to earn a few extra dollars for him. He is also surprised why the younger talents do not use the pre-show opportunity to connect with fans.

"I get to these shows, I bring like a whole mall with me, and I set up and I'm there," Matt said. "Of course, it's to make extra money but it's to make a connection with the audience. Whether you want to be so nice to them, or you're an a****** 'heel,' you can make a connection.

I get to these shows, sometimes I'm the only person selling stuff beforehand. I'm like, 'What are you guys doing?' Matt then spoke about Steph De Lander, a wrestler that he has helped on the indie circuit. He stated that Steph is making more money selling merchandise than she does through wrestling.

Matt believes that wrestlers think that the best way to connect with fans is by giving them a good match. This is not always the case according to him. There is some extra effort that wrestlers have to make, besides what they are being paid to do.

"To them, it's all about the moves," he said. "A lot of these independent wrestlers, they have to get noticed somehow. I'm not saying 'Don't do cool stuff.' I'm not saying that at all, but why can't you also make a connection with the audience, make some extra money, and then do these cool moves."
