Very few WWE wrestlers are as respected in the indie circuit as Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho has won countless titles with the WWE. He was the first ever Undisputed WWE Champion. He has faced the likes of Stone Cold, The Rock, Booker T, Shawn Michaels and Triple H during his run with the company. Outside of the WWE, he has worked for many indie promotions and wrestled various famous indie wrestlers, including Kenny Omega.
He recently lost his IWGP Intercontinental Title at Wrestle Kingdom 13. It was also reported that Jericho’s contract with NJPW expired after Wrestle Kingdom 13 and he isn’t officially part of the company. During later interviews however, Jericho stated that he isn’t done with the NJPW. He wants to win the IWGP Heavyweight title and would like to stay with the company until he does.
Many people thought that Jericho will sign with All Elite Wrestling, especially after he thanked Tony Khan on Social Media for helping him get tickets for an NFL game.
According to recent reports by Wrestling Observer Radio, Jericho’s contract did indeed expire at Wrestle Kingdom 13. NJPW is interested in keeping Jericho and Jericho himself wants to stay with the company. We may see a match between Jericho and Tanahashi in 2019.
